The Kogi State Government says it is working towards putting in place measures that will address
incessant clash between indigenes of the state and Fulani settlers .

The state governor , Capt . Idris Wada , asserted this when he received in audience Alhaji Muhhamadu
Kabiru Isah, the Maiyaki of Kupa , who was in his office to intimate government on a recent clash which
claimed seven lives , the burning down of 42 buildings and destruction of some tractors, vehicles and
motorcycles in Ekpan - Abugi , in Kupa district of Lokoja Local Government Area of the state .

The Governor , who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the government was determined
to find a lasting solution to incessant crisis between Fulani settlers and indigenes.

He lamented the recent clash that engulfed Bagana area of Omala Local Government Area of the state ,
which led to destruction of lives and property, and described the recent invasion of Ekpan in Kupa as
one too many.

He urged the people of the state to remain vigilant at all times and assured that government had
resolved to bring lasting peace to all areas of the state.

The governor directed the State Emergence Management Agency ( SEMA) to provide immediate succour
to those displaced, and promised that more security agents would be deployed to the troubled area.
Earlier in his remarks , Dr . Shehu Idris , the member representing Lokoja II in the Kogi State House of
Assembly , solicited the support of the state sovernment in the provision of security personnel and
solicited relief materials for the people of Ekpan who were displaced by reason of the clash .
