Former Tottenham, Newcastle and France international midfielder David Ginola has
announced he will stand against incumbant Sepp Blatter in the upcoming FIFA elections.

The 48-year-old joins compatriot Jerome Champagne and Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein of
Jordan in challenging Blatter.

In a statement by him, He said: “I want FIFA to be seen and set as an example, as an example all around the world for the people to say wow, look at FIFA , look at the president what he is doing right now is the right thing for the people because football as I say belongs to the people"

Ginola has been backed and paid by a betting firm to stand but the Frenchman needs more than that to succeed.

He needs the support of five football associations to be eligible.

The FIFA elections will take place on May 29.
