<p dir="ltr">The naira, on Friday, depreciated against the dollar as it traded at<br>
N208 from the N191.50 it sold for on Monday, January 19. (it's<br>
about N215 as of today)<br>
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new rate had<br>
made the naira to lose N16.50 within five days. The CBN’s website, however, put the naira against the dollar at N167.50,<br>
while the pound sold for N253.20 and the euro stood at N193.89.<br>
he development has resulted into speculation in the market and<br>
caused ripple effects on other currencies. NAN correspondent who visited some bureau de change and black market operators in Lagos said that they could not give rates to the pound sterling and the euro. Dealers who preferred anonymity said that there was scarcity of dollars in circulation. They said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had stopped selling forex to the bureaux de change since last year.<br>
The dealers added that the recent review of trading positions for<br>
the forex trading to 72 hours also contributed to speculation in the<br>
system. The effect, they added, was that the naira <u>could</u> depreciate further by next week. NAN recalled that the CBN in November 2014 devalued the naira</p>

<p dir="ltr">At the inaugural meeting of the APC women presidential campaign initiative held in Abuja today, Saturday January 24th, wife of the APC presidential flag-bearer reacted to her husband’s promise to scrap the office of the first lady because it is unconstitutional and allegedly being used to steal public fund. People who pick up things others say, & pour their venom on same, are the people such things that have been said or to whom such things concern.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I have noticed a lot of people just look for any hint of what is good out there & from their exalted bad position, lash out on the good. Which is why, someone who does not have, hate the person who does.</p>
<p dir="ltr">And nothing the person who has what they don't, says, can convince them that he/she deserved the good things such LUCKY BASTARDS has and they don't. Recall the story of the woman who wanted the baby split in half, but King Solomon's wisdom prevailed? Exactly!!! The reason so many people are bitter about other people's success or good life, it's because they don't have it! Period! You cannot carry an elephant on your head & be hunting rats!<br>
So whenever I post anything on my platform, those who wished they had a tenth of what God has given me, the opportunities, the second chances, the in spite of all success, recognition, family, kids, FAVOUR, fame & goodwill, will always say, "let him shut up! Who is he? What right does he have to speak? What effrontery? Enough already? Who does he think he is? As if we don't know him? Look who is talking?...Blah blah blah" Guess what? Some of these people worship in churches that their pastors have records that makes me a saint with my all errors! Should I name names?Yet they worship in the same churches pastured, sorry pastored by these my colleagues! It's interesting to note that people who like to hang people to dry are the same people who secretly wish they had it as good as you do! In fact, it kills them to know that they are far from your point of happiness, or are convinced they won't make it near by a foot! So what do they do? They hate you! And all that has to do with you.</p>

Restive youths in Bauchi state this morning attacked PDP campaign delegates, including the Minister of theFCT Senator Bala Mohammed, with stones, slippers, hammers, sachet water and other objects at thebparty's presidential campaign rally which held at the Ibrahim Babangida square in Bauchi the state capital.</div>

According to reports, the youths arrived the venue of the rally singing their support for GEJ but immediately he and his entourage arrived, they started stoning and attacking members of the party.</div>

They destroyed canopies and began chanting songs in support of Gen Buhari. The Police detached to the stadium found it hard to disperse them as they were large in number. FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, was stoned with sachet water while making his speech at the event.<br />The Minister in the course of his speech pleaded with President Jonathan and other party members not to take the embarrassment seriously as it was part of politics, stating that attack by the youths was the works of the opposition. Others at the podium had to dodge so as not to get hit with the different items thrown.<br />When the Minister shouted “Nigeria”, the crowd shouted back “sai Buhari”, “sai Baba Buhari”, others chanted “Bama yi,” “Bama yi”, meaning we don’t support PDP.</div>

King Abdullah Of Saudi Arabia Dies At 90

<p dir="ltr">Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has passed away, aged 90. The monarch died late last night January 22nd (Nigerian time) in his home. His death was announced in a statement broadcast on Saudi state TV.<br>
"His Highness Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all members of the family and the nation mourn the<br>
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who passed away at exactly 1am this morning (Friday - Saudi time)," the statement said.<br>
Abdullah became king in 2005 after the death of his half-brother King Fahd. The late king's brother, Salman, 79, has been announced as the new ruler of the kingdom.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has shut down the Short Messaging Service (SMS) platform which the Buhari-Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Fundraising Committee launched two days ago to raise funds for its campaign.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Gov. Fashola, who is the the Director of the Committee, disclosed this to newsmen today. He said the party had on Tuesday January 20th launched 5 platforms for party members to donate to its campaign fund, one of which was to use the SMS code 35350 which would be activated on some networks.</p>
<p dir="ltr">He said immediately after the party announced the launch of the platforms, NCC issued a letter to telecoms operators “not to carry political messages” thereby shutting down the SMS platform.<br>
"It is with very deep sadness that I address you all today, because I never expected that I will witness in Nigeria some of the very distasteful and disgraceful conduct that the Federal Government, the PDP and the President have embarked upon, by way of repression of freedoms. I mentioned the commercial nature of the transactions we had with the businesses who were partnering with us and the benefits to the economy. I also stated very clearly that these businesses had no partisan relationship but are<br>
providing professional service. I said so, in order to protect their businesses because of the increasing intolerance we were witnessing from the Jonathan and PDP Presidential campaign and some Federal Government agencies that have taken a partisan position”, the Governor explained.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Gov Fashola said the action of the NCC and by extension the PDP was a clear signal of dark clouds gathering over Nigeria<br>

NYSC,INEC Assures Adequate Security For Corps Members Durind Election

<p dir="ltr">Independent<br>
National Electoral Commission (INEC) and The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have assured NYSC members, who would be participating in the 2015 generalelections of their safety during and after the elections.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Speaking with newsmen, the Director General of the NYSC scheme, Brigadier General Johnson Olawumi, said provision has been made to ensure the protection of lives of NYSC members before, during and after the electoral activities.</p>
<p dir="ltr">According to him, the NYSC has entered into agreement with some Nigeria security agencies to see that the lives of all the corps members are protected and also to ensure that their<br>
welfare and logistics were adequately taken care of during the<br>
election.</p>
<p dir="ltr">In the same vein, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in<br>
Cross River State, Okey Ezeanyi, while visiting the NYSC<br>
secretariat in the state, assured corps members that they would be secure.<br>
“It is the duty of INEC to provide adequate security for corps<br>
members, who will be used as ad hoc staff for the 2015 elections,” he said.<br>
He advised corps members to be of good conduct during the<br>
2015 elections activities and promised prompt payment for their services.</p>

<p dir="ltr">I only consented to address you this morning because of the genuineconcern expressed by many supporters and other well-meaning Nigerians that the issue be addressed. Otherwise, I would have dismissed it for what it is – sheer mischief and would not have considered it an issue worth the nation’s while.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of<br>
the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available, there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file.</p>
<p dir="ltr">This is why I formally requested my old school the Provincial<br>
Secondary School, Katsina [which is now known as Government<br>
College, Katsina] to make available the school’s copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School Certificate. This will be made available to the press the moment this is available.</p>
<p dir="ltr">However, before we obtain that, let me say for the record that I<br>
attended Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. I graduated in 1961 with many prominent Nigerians, including General Shehu Yar’Adua, former chief of staff at the Supreme Headquarters, and Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a former President of the Court of Appeal. <br>
We sat for the University of Cambridge/WASC Examination together in1961, the year we graduated.<br>
My examination number was 8280002, and I passed the examination in the Second Division.<br>
And although the ruling party may want to wish this away, the issue in this campaign cannot be my certificate which I obtained 53 years ago. The issues are the scandalous level of unemployment of millions of our young people, the state of insecurity, the pervasive official corruption which has impoverished our people and the lack of concern of the<br>
government for anything other than the retention of power at all costs.<br>

FORMER Minister of Sports, Dr. Sa’idu Sumaila Sambawa has advised the Nigeria Football Federation no to renew the contract of Coach Stephen Keshi or any of the other coaches currently in the technical crew of <u>the</u> national team.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Sambawa who was speaking in a television interview in Abuja aired Tuesday, said his advice was informed by the need to get a technically sound coach who would chart a new course for the national team.</p>
<p dir="ltr">In his view, the NFF should advertise the vacant position of the national team coach in national and international newspapers so as to open the process of getting a replacement for out-of contract Super<br>
Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.<br>
“Anybody form anywhere, who is qualified and meet the requirements can apply,” the former Minister said, adding, “it does not matter if the new coach comes from Ghana or Nigeria,whether he is black or white, let a competent hand be employed.”</p>
<p dir="ltr">Continuing, Sambawa said, “what we need now is a technically sound and well remunerated coach. We don’t want a coach who will be taking money from players before he invites them to camp, share their allowances before fielding them. We need a sound comfortable coach who can instill discipline in the team and can call off players’ bluff when they feel bigger than the team.”</p>
<p dir="ltr">A weak coach would only make matters worse, the former minister reasoned, saying, “we don’t want a coach who will field a player from Bayelsa because the President is from Bayelsa.”</p>

<p dir="ltr">The injured forward has tasked his teammate to get more goals for the Potters after shrugging off his injury slow down</p>
<p dir="ltr">Nigeria international and Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie has demanded more goals from teammate. Victor Moses who made a return to the pitch after his injury setbacks. Moses has netted once in 13 appearances for the Potters since his loan move from Chelsea but Odemwingie feels that isn't enough for a player of his calibre.</p>
<p dir="ltr">"I'm delighted he's back because he's been instrumental in getting away points for us," <br>
Odemwingie told Stokesentinel.</p>
<p dir="ltr">"I just want more goals, personally. I told him that his crossing is good, but I want goals, <br>
however he does it, because he can score more."</p>
<p dir="ltr">Odemwingie, who still hopes to feature before the end of the season after a cruciate knee ligament injury,admits to being frustrated at not being able to link up with this season's newcomers such as Moses and Bojan.</p>
<p dir="ltr">But he is delighted to see Bojan scoring and everyone taking him to their heart. "It is very helpful to settle in when you score, the manager speaks well about you and the players want you in every game," he continued.</p>
<p dir="ltr">"I felt that way myself and so I can relate to him for that and I hope he continues doing well. "He is very hard working and even today he was in running by himself. He's added a few kilos of muscle and so he's also putting in the hours in the gym and we will all benefit from that.<br>
"I would love to play with him, but I will have to wait a bit until it comes, “ he concluded.</p>
