The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has again white washed the All Progressive Congress, APC presidential candidate, Alhaji Mohamadu Buhari as a serial loser who lacks the basic qualification to contest election against President Goodluck Jonathan, who is seeking a re-election into office.
Governor Godswill Akpabio who is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and the leader of the party in the State made the assertion recently during the flag-off of the party campaign for the forthcoming election.
Akpabio at the PDP rally went on to describe Buhari as misfit for the office of president in Nigeria, while adding that he is no match to President Goodluck Jonathan. He further boasted that the PDP will crush the APC again despite its repeated change of name and status in the political annals of the country.
An elated Akpabio whose nomination was confirmed at the rally as the PDP flag bearer for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, challenged the APC candidate to present his credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for him to be properly screened ahead of the February 14, 2015 presidential polls.
The party leader boasted that PDP will carry the day at the national and state levels of the elections.
Speaking in the same direction the Director General of the Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga insisted that PDP remains the best option for the sustenance of democratic dividends in the country. He called on the party's followers to remain committed to the course of returning all the PDP flag bearers during the polls. Other speakers including, Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Anietie Okon, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong who is a former Deputy Governor in the state, and Chief Ndueso Essien all declared their resolve to work for the actualization of the PDP course.
The high point of the rally which featured music performance by the likes of Davido, KC Phresh, Pastor- Goody Goody as well as the presentation of party's flag to Governor Godswill Akpabio who is eying the Ikot Ekpene senatorial seat, Obong Bassey Albert for the Uyo senatorial seat and Chief Nelson Effiong who is contesting for Eket senatorial district seat. Others who also received the nod to fly the party's flag at the polls were Mr.Emmanuel Ekon for Abak federal constituency and Engr. Mike Enyong also known as Baba Ntan for Uyo federal constituency.
The state chairman of the party Obong Paul Ekpo also presented flags to Mrs. Owoidoho Ekpoattai, Eket, Mr. Henry Archibong, Itu and five other House of Representatives hopefuls. The likes of Mrs. Nse Ntuen, Barr. Ime Okon, Mr. Gabriel Toby, Mr. Aniekan Uko, Idongesit Ituen and 21 others were also given flags.
Present at the rally were the political class, including the Minister of Housing, Lands and Town Planning, Mr. Akon Eyakenyi, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon and Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien,
among others who all endorsed the candidature of Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
